In September 2022, together with her partner, Alex, an adventurer, writer and freediving instructor, Charlie took the plunge and bought a 40 year old wrecked catamaran and began the mammoth task of rebuilding it into an expedition vessel and freediving platform.

Built using simple techniques and with salvaged, recycled and repurposed materials, “Feral” is a boat like no other, a modern day pirate ship and an ode to a bygone era of sailing, knowledge and techniques.

Designed for tropical climates, the pair plan to take her on a voyage throughout Macronesia, before continuing on to West Africa to explore its raw and remote coastline, before crossing the pond to South America.

Along the way, divers, wildlife enthusiasts, scientists and filmmakers will all be given the chance to come onboard and join their adventures for short freediving camps and bespoke scientific and wildlife expeditions.
